Emerging Luxury: Six Senses Sets Its Sights on Western Pennsylvania

In a bold expansion of its luxurious offerings, Six Senses has announced plans to open an exceptional resort and branded residences in western Pennsylvania by 2028. This development, known as the Six Senses RiverStone Estate, is strategically located around 90 miles north of Pittsburgh, close to the quaint town of Foxburg. With 1,200 acres of stunning landscape, this ambitious project promises to combine natural beauty with the opulence that the Six Senses brand is renowned for.

At the heart of the RiverStone Estate will be an elegantly restored 13,000-square-foot stone mansion that harkens back to the 1820s, setting a historically rich backdrop for the modern luxury experience that Six Senses aims to deliver. This unique blend of old-world charm and state-of-the-art amenities will foster an atmosphere of comfort and sophistication for guests and residents alike. The planned capacity includes 77 guest rooms alongside 40 private residences, creating a sense of community while maintaining individual luxury.

One of the standout features of the resort is its commitment to wellness. The 16,000-square-foot Six Senses Spa is designed to be a tranquil sanctuary, offering a wide range of treatments aimed at promoting physical and mental well-being. Adding to the wellness offerings, a 4,500-square-foot fitness center and a 25-meter swimming pool will support an active lifestyle. The integration of an equestrian center, featuring a 22,000-square-foot indoor riding arena, exemplifies a holistic approach to health, providing residents with opportunities for equine therapy, boarding facilities, and horseback riding.

Dining at the RiverStone Estate will emphasize sustainability and local flavors. The resort plans to feature restaurants that spotlight organic produce sourced from nearby farms, ensuring that the culinary offerings resonate with the surrounding environment. Notably, the resort will also produce its own maple syrup, tapping into over 5,000 maple trees on-site, representing a connection to the local land and enhancing the overall guest experience through authentically crafted cuisine.

The announcement of Six Senses RiverStone Estate is part of a broader strategy as Six Senses carves its niche in the United States market. With the upcoming openings of Six Senses Napa and Six Senses South Carolina Islands projected for 2026, along with an additional mountain resort near Telluride, Colorado by 2028, the brand is rapidly expanding its footprint. Each of these new locations aims to encapsulate the distinct characteristics of their respective environments while adhering to the luxury and wellness ethos that defines the Six Senses brand.

As a member of the IHG Hotels & Resorts portfolio, Six Senses is dedicated to creating unique and transformative experiences for its guests. With the RiverStone Estate, the brand is set to make an indelible mark in western Pennsylvania, providing not just a place to stay, but a holistic lifestyle destination rooted in nature, wellness, and community.
