Introducing the Norwegian Luna: A New Era for Norwegian Cruise Line

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) is set to expand its fleet with the introduction of the Norwegian Luna, the second ship in the Prima Plus series. Scheduled to commence sailing from Miami from April to November 2026, the Luna is designed to fulfill the growing demand for larger, more luxurious cruise offerings. It will join its sibling vessel, the Norwegian Aqua, which is slated for launch on March 28, 2025. Both ships represent a strategic shift for NCL, embracing bigger capacities while enhancing the overall guest experience.

The Norwegian Luna will accommodate approximately 3,550 guests at double occupancy, a notable increase from the former Norwegian Viva’s capacity of 3,195 guests. This move reflects NCL’s commitment to creating a more spacious and comfortable cruising environment. The ship will measure 1,056 feet in length and feature a gross tonnage of 156,300, ensuring ample space for a variety of amenities and experiences. Built by Fincantieri, the Luna showcases elegant interior designs from esteemed firms such as AD Associates and Rockwell Group, a testament to NCL’s dedication to luxury and aesthetics.

Sailing diverse Caribbean itineraries, the Luna promises captivating ports of call. Travelers can look forward to captivating stops in the Western Caribbean, including picturesque destinations like Roatan Island in Honduras and the vibrant cities of Costa Maya and Cozumel in Mexico. Additionally, NCL’s private island, Harvest Caye in Belize, offers a unique retreat for cruise passengers. The ship will also embark on seven-day Eastern Caribbean itineraries featuring notable locations such as Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic, Tortola in the British Virgin Islands, and St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands, each promising an array of cultural experiences and stunning landscapes.

Aesthetic Appeal and Unique Features

The Norwegian Luna will be visually striking, adorned with a hull design that reflects the mesmerizing beauty of moonlight, conceived by the talented street artist Elle, known for her collaborations with major brands. This artistic element lays the foundation for what promises to be an exciting onboard experience. Among the ship’s standout attractions is the Slidecoaster, a thrilling combination of a waterslide and rollercoaster, debuting aboard the Aqua and expected to become a highlight on the Luna as well.

Modern Amenities and Luxurious Accommodations

Adding to the excitement, the Luna will feature a state-of-the-art digital sports complex that transforms from an interactive activity hub during the day into an energetic nightclub after dark, presenting an engaging nightlife experience for guests. The luxurious Haven area will also make a splash with its new three-bedroom duplex suites, designed for indulgent living, complete with multiple bathrooms, expansive living areas, and luxurious balconies.

As NCL prepares for the launch of the Norwegian Luna, it continues to define a new narrative in cruise experiences—one that balances luxury, adventure, and artistic expression. With its innovative design and captivating itineraries, the Luna is poised to become a flagship of the Prima Plus series, appealing to both seasoned cruisers and new travelers alike.
