Renewal at Sea: Windstar Cruises’ Revamping of the Wind Surf

Windstar Cruises is embarking on an exciting revitalization journey with its flagship sailing ship, the Wind Surf. This November, significant renovations will commence in Cadiz, Spain, aiming to enhance the ship’s allure and comfort. Set to debut its newly revamped look on December 21, the Wind Surf will showcase improved suites and public areas—an initiative to further enrich the sailing experience for guests. This multi-phase renovation plan is a testament to Windstar’s commitment to luxury and comfort on the open seas.

Among the transformative upgrades is the introduction of Broadmoor and Sea Island suites, drawing inspiration from two renowned holiday destinations: The Broadmoor in Colorado and Sea Island in Georgia. Both prestigious resorts, owned by the Anschutz family—who also own Windstar Cruises—will influence the nautical design, encapsulating the essence of luxury and refinement. The existing Officer’s Suite (Cabin 501) will be rebranded as the Owner’s Suite, enhancing its exclusivity as the only public lodging near the officers’ quarters. Guests will soon enjoy this top-tier accommodation, reimagined to bring a premium nautical aesthetic to life.

The Wind Surf’s culinary spaces are not left untouched. The main dining venue, Amphora, is poised for a significant redesign that features elements of the ocean, such as pearls and smooth stones, woven into the new architecture and furnishings. Inspired by the breathtaking tones of a sunset, the color palette promises a warm and inviting atmosphere. Additionally, the Compass Rose restaurant will undergo significant changes, boasting modern decor infused with vibrant blue and orange accents. This venue will also introduce a multipurpose stage for live music, offering passengers a unique dining experience that combines culinary delight with entertainment.

The ship’s public areas will be enhanced with redesigned layouts, stylish furniture, and fresh wall and floor finishes that come together to form a rejuvenated ambiance. Windstar Cruises has envisioned the Wind Surf’s lobby to be transformed into a welcoming hub, providing guests with an inviting space reminiscent of boutique hotels, complete with additional seating options. A larger retail area is also on the agenda, aiming to provide a shopping experience akin to that found in high-end luxury stores.

Beyond these immediate renovations, the Wind Surf will witness a second round of updates by December 2026, which will include refurbishments for staterooms, Stella Bistro, Veranda, and the fitness studio. This ambitious overhaul is part of Windstar’s broader initiative, as all three Wind-class ships—Wind Surf, Wind Star, and Wind Spirit—are being redesigned and updated. The Wind Star has already completed its first phase of improvements, with additional updates targeted for April 2026. As Windstar Cruises commits to elevating its nautical experience, these renovations signal a promising future of innovation, comfort, and luxury for cruising enthusiasts around the globe.
